From the national bestselling author of Breaking Wild, a riveting and powerful thriller about a woman whose greatest threat could be the man she loves.…

Most of this twisty psychological thriller is performed by Emily Rankin, whose careful pacing amps up the creep factor. Marian loves her job: training dogs to help with wildlife research under the tutelage of her new boyfriend, Tate. After he dies in an accident, Marian discovers that Tate harbored secrets, but surely he wasn't involved with a series of unsolved murders. Hoping to clear his reputation, she seeks help from a retired criminal profiler, sensitively performed by Robert Fass, who perfectly contrasts the older man's professional and private personalities. Rankin's delivery highlights the full gamut of Marian's emotions--from the flush of new love to her growing terror that a killer may still be on the loose. Four other narrators and the author have smaller parts. C.B.L. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine
